Flying to Canada (in a Hello Kitty plane!) | Canada Travelogue

I don't know about you but going to Canada has never been on my list of countries to visit simply because no one I know really raves about Canada. I have friends who went there on exchange and they weren't overly impressed with what they saw so Canada was never on my radar until I had the opportunity to go on an Alaskan cruise. Prior to the cruise, part of the tour was to explore the Canadian Rockies and I went along with zero expectations. Boy was I proven wrong at that, I now can't stop raving about the Rockies but I'll save all that for the subsequent posts.

Flying to Canada saw us changing 3 different planes and spending nearly 2 days travelling (with breaks in between of course). Our first flight was to Taipei and we flew there in a Hello Kitty plane. I love pink, and I love cats, but a fan of Hello Kitty I am not.

The whole plane was filled with all things Hello Kitty and I've never felt this overwhelmed before. Hello Kitty screen savers, seat covers, pillow cases, serviettes, cutleries even biscuits. It is definitely a Hello Kitty's fan's biggest fantasy.

After a couple of hours spent at the Taipei airport, we were back in the air and on our way to Vancouver. We were treated to amazing views of Canada on our descent downwards.

Because our flight to Calgary from Vancouver was the next day, we got our luggages and checked ourselves into a hotel for the night. Getting to the hotel was an absolute nightmare though. For starters, we spent more than an hour standing in the cold waiting for the hotel shuttle to pick us up. We didn't have a working SIM card and we didn't know what time the shuttle bus would arrive so we stood shivering in the cold for a good hour before we finally spotted the shuttle bus and it was pouring when we got to the hotel which made everything even more miserable.

I didn't take any photos of the place but I think you can catch a glimpse of the space in my vlog (I'll link it down below if you're interested!)

The next day, we checked out and got on a plane to Calgary and checked into the Fairmont Palliser Hotel. Now one thing I have to give to the people at Princess Cruises is that they booked the best hotels ever for us. We stayed in Fairmont hotels throughout the whole trip and it was amazing. All the hotels were grand, with amazing decor and the views were breathtaking (at least the ones which were out of the city).

We spent most of the day in the hotel room catching up on rest and only ventured out to grab a Vietnamese takeaway for dinner.

I was fully asleep by 11pm that night, travelling takes a toll on my body, and what happened the next day will be in another post. Sorry for the large hiatus but I'll be back with the rest of my Canadian travelogues. Thank you so much for reading! x
