Over the long SG 50 weekend, I went out with my sister because we hardly ever spend time together even though we stay in the same house. I've been so busy with work and school and she with her internship so we decided to head out on a Saturday just to spend time with each other, catch up on each other's lives and to do a cheeky bit of shopping.
Our first stop of the day was for some food because I was starving after work and since she's always at Sunday Market, and because I've never been there before, that was where we went.
I really appreciate their tongue-in-cheek sense of humour. I feel like more cafes should do things like this. Then again, I know that there are people with no sense of humour who would probably take offense or just don't get the humour.
My sister recommended their Milk Tea Thai ($7) which tastes pretty similar to the Thai milk teas you get in Thai food places in Singapore, just a wee bit less sweet. By the way, that's really how they spelt it, milk tea thai. I'm not mixing the arrangement of the words up just for fun.
Since my sister wasn't very hungry, she went for the Mushy Mushy ($7.90) which is essentially home-made cream of mushroom served with garlic crouton. Honestly, this isn't the nicest mushroom soup I've had, I found it pretty blend actually which is saying a lot because I'm not a huge fan of the super strong mushroom and/or cream taste.
I went for the Crispy Duck Leg Confit ($17.90). Fried baby potatoes, chopped salad & orange brown sauce.
I really liked this. The duck meat was super soft and came off the bone really easily. The sauce was a tad too salty but when eaten with the duck meat, it was just right. However, I found this on the pricey side, especially when I didn't feel full after eating this. My stomach is tiny so that tells you just how small the portion is, considering the price I paid for it. Still, it was pretty good.
