Bangkok Travelogue // Travelling to Bangkok, Sabx2 Wonton Mee, Ban Khun Mae & Mango Tango

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to finally have the chance to sit down and blog about my Bangkok trip with my other half. It's our fourth holiday together and our first to BKK.

We had a 7am flight to catch so we reached the airport at 5am which was crazy. Managed to grab breakfast at Burger King before heading off to board our plane.

Matching passport covers I got for us on my first trip to BKK earlier this year~

This was probably the only time we were awake on the plane. As soon as the plane took off, we pretty much snoozed the whole time till we reached the other side.

The flight took us about 2h30 minutes so we reached BKK at about 845am (BKK time) and we took the Airport Rail Link to our hotel.

We stayed at the same hotel I stayed at previously (Bangkok City Hotel) because I really liked the place and the location is convenient to get to pretty much everywhere. Also, they allowed us to check in early which I really like considering the fact that we reached the hotel almost 3 hours earlier than the check in time.

Look at how inviting the bed looks.... I wanted to crash so badly (which was what we did actually) because we were so exhausted from waking up at a stupid early time to catch our flight.

For lunch, I brought SH to Sabx2 Wonton Mee because he has never been there before! Can you believe it? It's so famous and yet he hasn't been there before.

Apparently, there are a few wonton mee stalls around Pratunam area so if you want to know whether you're at the correct one, this is what you will see directly outside the shop!

SH ordered a bowl of Pork Rice (90 baht) and a bowl of Wonton Mee (50 baht) because the portions were pretty pitiful and I had one bowl of wonton mee.

Like I said before, I don't understand why everyone goes crazy about the wonton mee here because it's overpriced and overhyped. It isn't even that nice, the portion is crazy small, the noodles are pretty much tasteless... I mean the noodles aren't bad but they aren't nice either..?

Plus the majority of the people in the shop are from Singapore and there aren't any locals so it definitely isn't authentic. You can head over to give it a try if you've never been here before but don't expect much!

We went shopping around Pratunam area for a bit before heading back to get a massage then we went off to Ban Khun Mae to meet SH's dad for dinner.

Ban Khun Mae is kind of an atas Thai restaurant? The food was pretty good but the price point is so much more expensive than the average price of food in other restaurants or along the streets.

We ordered 2 cups of cha yen, Morning Glory, Phad Thai, Fried Chicken, Tom Yum Goong and 2 bowls of rice and it costed us about 880 baht which is crazy expensive in Thailand?!

The food is pretty good but not worth the price when Thai food every where else in Bangkok is pretty much the same and costs so much cheaper.

Would you believe that I've never tried mango sticky rice before? Even when I went to BKK earlier in the year, my friends and I just didn't bother to give it a try. So this time round, SH was insistent that I give it a try.

I heard that Mango Tango is famous for their mango desserts, especially the mango sticky rice so that was what we had for dessert after our dinner!

This plate of Mango Sticky Rice (140 baht) was on the pricey side but it was pretty good! The mango was soooo sweet and yummy. I wish they gave a bigger portion of rice though!

After that, we pretty much headed back to our hotel to crash because we were so tired and we had to wake up early the next morning to go to Pratunam Morning Market to shop so yeah, this concludes our first day in BKK.

Keep your eyes peeled for our next day in BKK~
