Korea Travelogue // Namsan Mountain & N Seoul Tower

One of the must-go-to places in Seoul is definitely N Seoul Tower on the top of Namsan Mountain. Not only does it offer a stunning view of Seoul (especially at night!), it is well known for the thousands of love locks locked to the railings of the tower.

I went up with the aim of hunting down the lock my friends and I left behind months ago but failed because I just couldn't find it! I'm pretty sure I was looking at the correct spot but there were probably just too many locks.

It is quite a climb up (even before you take the cable car) so be prepared for a hike!

The top of N Seoul Tower during the evening~

There are two ways of going up Namsan Mountain. The first one is obviously to hike up the many steps to the top, which was what my friends and I did when we went there.

The second time though, I went with my family and they were not interested in climbing to the top so we opted for the cable car instead.

Prices for the cable car:

  • Adults (Round Trip): 8,500 KRW
  • Adults (One Way): 6,000 KRW
We waited quite a while for the cable car because the queue was insanely long and be prepared to be squashed inside the cable car as well. (They will try to squeeze as many people as they can into the cable car.)

We made it to the top after the sun set which was a pity because the view on the top of Namsan Mountain during sun set is really pretty. Just picture Seoul as the back drop to an amazing sun set...

Brought my family up to see the thousands of love locks~

And the amazing night view of Seoul.

Namsan Mountain is definitely one of the places to go if you're traveling around Seoul as a couple. It is romantic beyond compare and you don't have to travel all the way to Europe just to do a love-lock with your other half. Also, if you're into night views of the city, Namsan Mountain offers it as well.

How to get here:
1. Myeongdong Station, Exit 3
2. Walk South along Toegye-ro 18-gil towards Pacific Hotel and turn left
3. Walk along Toegye-ro 20-gil until you see the Ministop
4. Turn right and walk along Toegye-ro 20-na-gil
5. At the end of the street, you will see a stairway that leads to the cable car
