Hong Kong Travelogue // Day 3

On our third day in Hong Kong, we decided to go to Teakha which is famous for the large selection of teas that they offer. It was pretty close to out apartment so we just walked over. I really liked how they incorporated a lot of wood into their design of the whole place. I'm a huge sucker for wood furnishings.

We ordered a selection of cakes to share and got a cup of tea each and I was pleasantly surprised with how good they tasted! I'm more of a tea person than a coffee person and I literally cannot not have at least one cup of tea a day, any type of tea is fine by me.

The cakes were pretty good and I really liked the scone! The scone isn't your usual normal english scones but it's more of a pastry than the fluffy scones that we usually see.

Hojicha Au Lait (HK $48)

Keemun Rose Tea (HK $58)

Sea Salt Yin Yang (HK $40)

Fig Scone (HK $10 with purchase of any tea)

Green Tea Cheesecake (HK $50)
Sea Salt Yin Yang Cake Chiffon Cake (HK $50)

After having brunch, we decided to spend some time wandering around the Sheung Wan area which had a lot of interesting shops and some really good street art. We also came across a street market which sold some really good pastries from Macau that are supposedly pretty famous so the girls stopped by to pick some up before heading to Jenny Bakery which sells the well-known Jenny cookies. When I first mentioned to my friends that I will be heading to Hong Kong and I didn't know what was good to buy back for my family, literally everyone mentioned Jenny cookies as the must-buy item.

I bought a box back for SH's family and all of them said that the cookies were really buttery and tasted amazing so if I ever go back to Hong Kong again, I'm definitely going to buy more back for everyone. I regret only getting 1 tub! By the way, you're limited to only 2 tubs per person (per day I believe) so keep that in mind if you're promising to buy a lot of tubs back for friends and family! You can always go back on different days or go to different outlets if you're really desperate?

After purchasing the cookies, we went back to our apartment to deposit the cookies (they are really heavy by the way) and rest up before heading out for a late lunch.

We went to have lunch at Sun Kee Cheese Noodles because my friends read online that their signature item was their grilled pork cheek so that was where we went. They ordered the cheese noodles and I ordered the dry and spicy version because I just wasn't feeling cheese then. The dry noodles basically tasted like Indomee if I were to be honest but I didn't like the pork cheek at all. It was really (for lack of a better description) porky. I don't really like fatty meats as well and the pork cheek was pretty fatty so... I basically didn't enjoy the dish that much. I tried their cheese noodles and it wasn't very cheesy, it tasted more like white sauce than cheese if I were to be honest. I get sick of white sauce and cream very easily so if you're like me, then you may want to avoid the cheese noodles as well.

Our night time activities basically was just a trip to Mong Kok and I have to say that I was really very excited to be there. There's something about bright, flashing, neon lights at night, and a lot of busking in the streets that makes me a very happy person. There was a decent number of people walking around but I didn't feel claustrophobic at all which was amazing because I usually try to avoid crowds, I don't like pushing past people and having others jab me all over with their elbows and knees. Some of the buskers were really good as well! I took little video snippets of what was going on that night so you can always check out my vlog below to get a better experience of how amazing the whole place was for me.

We actually didn't end up visiting the famous Women's Market because we weren't really in the mood for street shopping but we did end up getting some stuff from Nike and Adidas which were priced a lot cheaper than in Singapore.

Because we had a rather late lunch, we weren't very hungry to be honest but we thought we would have a late dinner before heading back because we didn't want to risk feeling hungry only when we were back in the apartment so we entered the first cha can ting we saw and ordered some food. I ended up with luncheon meat macaroni (as usual) and the other two got fish porridge and luncheon meat with maggie mee.
