Roosevelt's Diner & Bar

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Tanjong Pagar, Roosevelt’s Diner & Bar is an eclectic modern diner that offers hearty all-day dining in a casual environment and at approachable prices. Our menu has a huge slant towards artisanal and gourmet fares, with our food, coffee blends, wines, spirits, and cocktails embodying this focus.

Here at Roosevelt’s, we offer a unique indoor dining experience; our interior is characterised by an industrial chic décor with a touch of grunge eclecticism. Amongst the décor, one would find a vintage orange Vespa placed strategically beside our Engine table- a glass table supported on a geometric metal framework, with a behemoth racecar engine forming its base.

On our walls are large photo canvases- works by a cult photographer whose passion for wine and travels brought about these poignant shots.

I've never been a fan of ribs before because I don't like to eat meats with bones on them, mainly because I find it quite a hassle to do so. This probably explains why chicken breast meat is my favourite haha.

But the girls said that the BBQ Baby Back Ribs ($22/half) is really good so that was what we ordered.

I was really impressed. The meat was really flavourful and it came with lovely side dishes. More importantly, the meat literally came off the bone with the slightest pull and it wasn't a hassle at all. I'll be a convert if all ribs are this good.

Our next main was a savoury waffle. Now, I've never tried savoury waffles before because I've always felt that waffles were more of a dessert item - i.e. waffles should be sweet not savoury.

The Truffle Scrambled Eggs Waffles ($16) however, sounded too good to miss. The waffle was really soft and fluffy on the inside (although it did turn slightly soggy in the center because of the eggs) and the truffle scrambled eggs were on point. Truffle lovers, do be sure to give this a try.

We also opted for two drinks to share. The first one being Mango Passionfruit Smoothie ($6.50) which had the right blend of sweet and sourness to it, making it super refreshing to have.

The second one, Roosevelt's Salted Caramel ($8) tasted like Werther's Original sweets and was surprisingly good! It wasn't too salty and the caramel taste wasn't too overpoweringly sweet either.

For dessert, we opted for their Churros Waffles ($12) which came sprinkled with cinnamon sugars, butter, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and mocha sauce on the side.

This waffle is also a definitely must try on the menu.

If you love churros, this waffle tasted surprisingly like one. I first tried churros with these girls on my virgin trip to South Korea and after that, I fell in love with this Spanish sweet treat. Having this reminds me of the good old days when we were traveling around Seoul :>

The mocha sauce, however, didn't really taste like mocha though, it tasted more like dark chocolate but I'm not complaining.

We dined till really late and manage to catch up with each other. I'm so glad that the majority of my university life was spent with you two. Here's to many more years spent with each other!
