I know I've owed all of you this post for nearly half a month so here it is! Finally gna blog about my trip to Genting with a great bunch of people.
Photos taken by Kevinstry Productions :)
So we woke up bright and early on Friday morning which was a struggle for me 'cuz I spent the day before rushing out projects and all the usual student struggles.
Wq came to pick me up at about 8 ish and we ventured down to the West to meet up with the rest of the people.
I've never met any of them before, they were basically the people he bikes around with, I call them his "biker friends" LOL.
There were a total of 7 bikes that went along!
The first thing we did was to pump petrol to make sure all the bikes had enough fuel to last till the next rest stop.
And then off we went! The first rest stop was to be about 143km (if I remember correctly) into Malaysia.
Honestly, it was pretty scary because Wq has never travelled past 120km/h with me as a pillion before and we travelled at speeds up to 170km/h (I think).
My main job was to cling on tightly to the bike and not move around LOL.
It was exhilarating to travel with a bunch of bikes, all zooming pass cars and buses. I've always felt that I had a need for speed, literally.
I've never told Wq before but I always feel happiest whenever he zooms pass various cars/bikes because it feels good to be able to just overtake other vehicles!
Of course, nothing is more important than safety but I trust Wq's judgment and I know he'll never put me through potentially dangerous situations.
Don't remember much of the ride there but we had maybe 2-3 rest stops, zooming past JB, Malacca, and KL before it suddenly starting raining and we had to stop by the road side to put on our rain coats.
That's when we started to get separated (some of them wanted to ride fast while the rest of us wanted to travel safely and slower).
But we managed to meet up when we got to Genting itself though ^^
The roads up were pretty scary because they were so winding but we were really lucky because we managed to beat the rain and reach the top of Genting (at least pass all the winding roads) before the rain reached.
Stopped by the road side to change out of our rain coats and to wait for the rest to reach!
I honestly feel that I'm pretty noob 'cuz everyone I know has been to Genting before and I've never been.
Or rather, according to momsie and popsie, they said I've been there as a kid (maybe 2-3 y/o), how is that counted as being in Genting before?
I can't even remember being there!
So yes, even though we ended up doing nothing much, I'm still pretty glad that I made the trip.
We were way behind schedule though /:
They initially planned to reach Genting by 2pm and leave by about 5-6pm but we only reached Genting at about 6pm.
The traffic on the road was pretty bad which reduced the speeds we travelled at, plus the rain slowed us down a lot.
After we met up with everyone, the first thing we did was to go grab some coffee!
Parked the bikes at the lobby of some hotel to take photos because that's what photographers do I guess!
All the black bikes 'cept for Kevin's blue bike, parked right smack in the centre some more lol!
The view from where we were at was pretty awesome.
Because we were quite high up, we could see the mist covering the valley, making everything misty and mysterious...
I was pretty much a little kid and hopped up and down trying to see everything there was to see.
Wq had a hard time holding on to my hand and making sure I didn't fall over the edge!
That's what happens when you bring me to new places, I tend to get over excited hehe.
See! Here's a picture of me (not intentionally photobombing Ian) skipping up the slope while the photo was being taken.
Sorry Ian!
I swear we were all pretty silly.
The temperature at Genting was pretty low (and plunging lower cuz of the impending rain), plus most of us were wet from the rain, and we still chose to order cold drinks instead of warm ones.
We ended up sitting there and shivering non-stop 'cuz we were freezing!
Well, we're all silly people at heart I guess.
Some artistic shots because well, we were with a photographer and once again, that's what photographers do!
After bargaining with the staff at the hotel to allow us to leave our bikes there, we went in to explore the heart of Genting.
Well... we actually just mainly stayed at the arcade area because boys, being boys, never really leave army behind.
All of them were addicted to the shooting game where you had 4 "bullets" and you had to hit all 3 bottles off the "stage".
Just look at all of them....
It was pretty late by then, about 8pm I think, when 2 of the riders decide to head back while the rest of us stayed behind for fooooood.
So it was time to take a group picture before they left!
Say hello to the amazing riders who conquered the arduous journey and crazy slopes of Genting Highlands.
While two of them left, the rest of us went in search of food.
Did I mention that I haven't eaten a proper meal in more than 24h by then?
All I had in my tummy was a chicken puff and random drinks we bought along the way, was feeling so faint from hunger by then because we were all exhausted and hungry.
Didn't manage to take pictures of the food because we were too hungry and the food disappeared off the plate within 30 seconds of it being placed on the table, no joke.
But after we had food in our bellies, we went off to take photos with various signs that had the word "Genting" in them.
They were bemoaning how we came all the way up to Genting but didn't take picture of the Genting sign (you'll see it later in this post) because Wq being the first rider, zoomed past the sign without noticing it and the rest didn't stop 'cuz Wq didn't LOL.
In search of proof that we were at Genting instead of some random place, here was what we managed to come up with!
Pictures with the Genting "eiffel tower".
And one with the Genting casino sign.
After we chilled around for a bit, we decided to start heading back because it was getting pretty late, it was about 10 ish pm.
Convinced the guys to drink Redbull and 100 plus because I remember J telling me that she drank that combination and got really high due to the sugar rush and I didn't want any of them falling asleep on the way back!
Up till now, I have no idea if it works though, but I was pretty touched that almost all of them took my words seriously and really bought the two drinks!
Hehe.
This was the Genting sign that I was referring to LOL. Cannot take during the day, take at night also can.
CLOSE ENOUGH

And it was about 11 before we finally moved off to head back to our beloved homeland.
The journey back was pretty uneventful, we basically just travelled at high speeds back, with a few rest stops in between.
Malaysia's highways do not really have lights so we relied on keeping track of each others' high beams and signal lights to know whether everyone was keeping up.
At one point, two of them got left behind and I was so worried because one of their bikes had some problems when we were at Genting and I didn't want him to be stuck somewhere without any of us.
Kept urging Wq to ride slower and I turned my head behind to try and catch sight of him.
Managed to meet up with one of them halfway and made them stop by the road side to wait for the last guy and I was so happy when I spotted him zooming pass us a while later!
You honestly don't understand how worried I was :( No one gets left behind on my watch!
Pumped petrol for the bikes, and coffee for us humans to keep us going.
Stopped at JB for some food and to wash bikes/pump petrol again before all of us went back.
We travelled a total of more than 800km that day alone.
And I reached home at 6am, half dead.
Took a shower, and collapsed on the bed. I fell asleep within 10 seconds of my head hitting the pillow.
Summing up my thoughts on this trip:
I'm so thankful for the people who organized this trip, who guided us there and back, and for Wq, who had to bear the brunt of my additional weight as a pillion without complaining.
I'm happy I got to experience what it felt like traveling in a group of bikes, definitely something I will never have experienced otherwise because none of my friends ride bikes.
I'm happy that we made it safely, there and back, despite some minor scares along the way.
Now that I've (more or less) recovered from the experience, I think given the opportunity, I'll definitely do this again, but I'll definitely request for a stay overnight instead of squeezing the journey there and back within a day.
All in all, now that the pain of back aches and knee aches are over, I think it was a pretty fruitful trip and worth every pain I went through mostly because of the people I met and new friends I made :)
