SH and I rarely get weekdays off because I'm usually stuck at work even if he has the day off from school. Yes, I am aware that I'm a workaholic, everyone tells me that. But! I took the Friday off from work since SH didn't have school on that day. We basically spent the day cafe hopping (yay!) and visiting Changi Museum.
With my favourite man who indulges me whenever I say I want to visit cafes even though he thinks it's a huge waste of money. Whilst I do agree on most days, some times I do still feel tempted to go somewhere with nice coffee and a nice ambience and he does accommodate :> Favourite man award definitely goes to him.
Since it was a weekday, I thought what better way than to explore somewhere we don't usually go to because there would be lesser people milling around as well. Decided to head to the East because we've actually spent more time in the West than the East even though we stay closer to the East than the West.
Our first stop of the day was to fill our tummies with brunch. I've never been to Penny University before even though I've heard about it many times. The reviews of the food seemed pretty decent there so we headed there to give it a try.
I feel that SH and I do not take enough photos of ourselves. Whenever we meet up, I'm usually taking selfies or of our food/surroundings. So you can obviously tell that I'm trying to make up for lost time.
SH opted for Double Poached Eggs on Toast ($7). Two poached eggs on sourdough toasts with marmite and Maasdam cheese. I didn't try this but I believe SH said it was okay, nothing really special.
I took the courageous leap and got Turkish Eggs ($8.60). Two poached eggs on lightly whipped Greek yoghurt, topped with homemade spicy Moroccan harissa sauce and oregano leaves, served with toasted sourdough.
I mentioned the word "courageous" because I've honestly never tried Turkish eggs before. I've read that they are either a hit or a miss for people because either you really like it, or you really hate it. Sadly, I belong to the latter. I took one mouthful and kind of... gagged. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I ordered this but I didn't expect to taste sour eggs. Literally, that was what it tasted. Also, when everything is stirred together, it literally looks like puke. I was so disappointed because according to the menu, it was a "crowd favourite". It definitely isn't my favourite.
(Here I am, looking so excited to try this before my tastebuds got assaulted, and not in a good way at all.)
I'm definitely not a fan of the food here at all. Maybe I just simply made the wrong choice of food but I just don't think I'll be back for their mains. Their desserts looked really good though! And I've heard good things about the coffee here so maybe I'll be back one day for that.
