FatCat Ice Cream Bar

I don't usually go on waffle hunts simply because I think Wimbly Lu has one of the best waffles around and I see no real need in splurging on waffles when I can eat them pretty much for free at work. But when I asked my friend's opinions on FatCat Ice Cream Bar's waffles, pretty much everyone said I needed to make a trip there to try their charcoal waffles with the salted egg yolk sauce.

When we headed over at about 1pm (their opening time) we were surprised to see the place half full already. I believe FatCat Ice Cream Bar isn't located near any train stations and it's under a HDB block so it isn't at the most convenient location.

Excitedly waiting for the waffle!!

So what we got was Gourmet Waffle with Salted Caramel Sauce ($6), Salted Egg Yolk Sauce ($1), one scoop of Butterscotch Ice Cream ($3.90) and one scoop of Hazelnut Ice Cream ($4.50).

Honestly, the waffle wasn't anything special at all. Whilst I do admit that I'm amazed that the waffle stayed crispy even though we poured the salted egg yolk sauce all over, there wasn't anything worth noting about the waffle itself besides the novelty of eating a black coloured waffle.

The salted egg yolk sauce was delish but $1 for such a small portion just doesn't seem that worth it. I also wish the taste was a tad stronger.

I didn't try the butterscotch ice cream but the hazelnut ice cream was amazing. I literally stopped SH from eating it because I wanted the whole thing to myself. It was sooo good.

I think the FatCat Ice Cream bar is definitely a place worth trying if only for the novelty of giving charcoal waffles with an add on of salted egg yolk sauce a try. At the very least, you'll be sure that the pictures of the waffles will turn out nice ;>
