#961

I've been meaning to blog about this for quite some time but I never really bothered to until earlier today in school when I realized that my condition is becoming too bad and I really need help!

Probably about half a year ago, my lips starting showing signs of dryness. Prior to this, I never had an issue with dry, peeling lips. I only ever got "cold sore" when I go overseas to countries experiencing winter? And even then, I rarely developed cold sore. But about half a year ago, the left half of my top lip started peeling quite badly, like as though I was dehydrated and the skin on my lip becomes so dry that it starts peeling.

I started applying lip balm religiously and the condition got better after a while but whenever I stopped applying lip balm, it just came back.

Slowly, it spread to the whole of my upper lip but lip balm helped from time to time. Like I'll always apply lip balm and on certain days my lips will be perfectly fine and then the dryness will come back and my lip starts peeling again.

About a month or two ago, it started spreading to the top area of my lip, the skin that's directly above the top half of my lip will become really red and start flaking. No matter how much lip balm I applied, it still didn't solve the problem.

And about 1-2 days ago, it suddenly spread to the side of my lip and to part of the area below my bottom lip. The side of my lip's super bad, it feels as though the skin tore and whenever I open my mouth to eat/drink/talk it will hurt super badly. I noticed only last night that after I apply lip balm, and wait for maybe 2-3 minutes and rub my lips together, I can feel like a slight wetness, as though I just drank water and had a few drops of water left on my lips. I didn't think much about it until this afternoon when I used a tissue to blot the wetness and realized that it was actually like pus with a bit of blood? (The tissue showed like a bit of red so I assume it's blood.) And whenever I wipe my lips, thus wiping away the lip balm, my lips REALLY HURT. Like cracked lips hurt, so much so that I reapply lip balm at least once every 15 minutes or so because I cannot stand the dryness and the pain.

I really am at my wits end and I regret letting this drag on for almost half a year but it never used to hurt till now. I'm planning to go see a doctor on Saturday 'cuz that's when Wq's free to bring me, and also because I've got a full day in school tomorrow with work after that so I won't have the time to make a trip.

But I really want to know if any of you have had this problem? And if so, how did you get rid of it? I've tried googling it but since I don't even know what this problem is, I find the answers I get are weird and I don't know if it's for the problem I have. Please do share your experiences/advices with me either on my formspring or by emailing me (chengyiqing@hotmail.com).

I thank all of you in advance!
