When I saw this in the stores, I knew I had to grab some of them because how cool would it be to have lip glosses with names of famous cities on them? I can totally envision myself saying, "Oh let's go with Seoul today" or "How about Las Vegas?" and everyone giving me the confused look before I whip out my lip gloss. Okay, this probably wouldn't really happen but they do make for really good makeup table decoration.
Today, I'm going to be talking about my thoughts on the World Glam Coating Tints from Aritaum. Why do they call them tints though? I feel like they work a lot more like lip glosses than through lip tints.
I feel that most of the colours, with the exception of one of them, are decently pigmented and a little goes a pretty long way. The actual tint also matches the colour of the packaging which is really convenient because you don't want to have to keep doing swatches just to decide which colour you want to use.
Like all Aritaum lip products, these smell amazing. They have a slightly fruity scent, but it isn't overpowering at all and I don't smell it on my lips after I've applied it.
The staying power of these tints are pretty awesome. I applied the tint before I ate and after I was done with my meal, it was still there. With time, the glossiness and brightness of the lip tint faded but my lips definitely still had the colour even after 4 hours (of constant drinking because I drink A LOT of water).
The tints apply thickly on the lips, like it doesn't blend properly but after you do get it on, they feel light on the lips, like you're not wearing anything on at all. They do feel slightly tacky on the lips when you first apply them but that tackiness goes away after a while. It's nothing I cannot deal with. The finish is definitely on the glossy/shiny side which may be why they don't feel drying on the lips at all. It in fact feels pretty comfortable on my lips and I can wear it without feeling the need to constantly top up my lip balm because my lips feel dry.
The dove-tip applicator is on the thin side which makes for really easy and precise application which I do adore because I don't have the biggest lips.
On the downside, they do transfer even 2 hours after application.
The first tint I have is #1 New York and it is a really light pink which is really sheer. I feel that you can't really tell I have anything on my lips whenever I use this. It looks like your natural lip colour but better.
The next one is in #8 Shanghai and I would probably describe this as an orangey-red, like a red colour with orange tones to it. The colour in real life is a lot more bold than the one in the lip swatch, it's closer to the hand swatch and I really like it. I'm a sucker for orange lips so this blend between red and orange is perfect for me when I don't want to go full-on orange.
The third tint is in the shade #6 Seoul and it is a salmon pink with a tinge of coral in it. It definitely isn't full on pink or orange at all. Actually this colour is a really hard colour to describe, especially with my limited ability in describing colours.
The last tint I have is #9 Las Vegas and it is pinkish-red, something I would call cherry red although I'm not exactly sure if cherry red is a pinkish-red. The colour in real life is a lot closer to my hand swatch than the lip swatch and there isn't any orange hues to this shade at all (which is why I don't understand why in my lip swatch photo, it looks orangey.)
Here are all the hand swatches side by side for an easier comparison.
Overall:
PROS:
- Affordable
- Good colour payoff
- Tints match the colour of the packaging
- Lasts quite long on the lips
- Not drying
- Glossy/shiny finish
- Smells amazingly fruity
- Applicator is easy to use
- Really pretty packaging
CONS:
- Applies slightly tacky
- Transfers
For 9,000 KRW per tint (or 4,500 KRW if you buy it during their 1+1 sales like I did), it's a bargain deal for a really good product. There's nothing I really dislike about this product honestly. I feel like I am always raving about how amazing Aritaum products are but I really think that they do amazing lip products and for the price, who can complain?
